Das Tier.

Part I of a three part trade with ~Corkscrew-Reality

Das Tier was fun to draw/paint.
his eye and the cracks are possibly my favorite part of the picture.
the picture was originally more a tatoo-like design, and i started to mess around and came up with this bugger.

if you have time i have a few questions for all of you.
i tried to outline the cracks in a terra cotta color and highlight other areas in a blue-gray. Do you think this was a good idea?
id also like to know what you guys think of the cracked and fading "tail". Do you think it would have looked better longer?
what do you think of the burnt edges?

Dude, KICK ASS. I think the terra cotta color and the grey-blue highlights look great, but I think it's simply a matter of artistic preference whether to add them to glowing white and plain black. It definitely gives it a lot more flavor (and body) than shading the black with grey, and I think the terra cotta brings out the glow a bit more, since I'm not really sure if it's intentional or not.

As for the fading tail, I think it looks fine, but I think it would look cooler if it looked more chaotic as it was fading. I also like the burnt edge effect, but maybe there's a texture out there that would make it look more convincing?
:iconcobrex13:
thanks.
the glow wasn't intentional but i liked the effect.
by chaotic do you mean having it break away from itself more, or do you mean something else?
the burnt edge was just me messing around with tools on gimp. i'm sure there is a better texture out there i just wasn't up for looking for it when i was finishing up the picture.

Awesome, I really like the blue and terra cotta colors you added to it. The burnt edges make it look finalized, overall a great flow. The tail looks good to me, any longer at that angle and it might take away from the face. Sweet action.
:iconcobrex13:
thanks.
do you think the tail would've looked better straightened out like the neck is instead of curling in like it did.
i think it would've given it more possiblities to work with.

The tail looks good. It ends off nicely, I think if it had continued on straight then ending it off would look forced.
:iconcobrex13:
okay. cool.
